Year after year, the ASF realizes its mission of providing software for the public good by making 320+ Open Source projects available to the public-at-large at 100% no cost.
ASF projects are overseen by an all-volunteer community, comprising 8,400+ individuals, who contribute towards 2,500+ Apache repositories —that’s nearly 300,000,000 lines of code— and has been growing steadily since 1999!
Folks often ask how they can give back to the ASF as a form of thanks.
Whilst ASF projects and their communities are developed, incubated, and stewarded by volunteers, there is a lean team of individuals who help keep the ASF operating on a day-to-day basis by providing infrastructure, legal affairs, marketing & publicity, fundraising, and accounting services.
These operational expenses cost approximately $2M per year —much of these costs are offset by the generosity of ASF Sponsors. The ASF relies on tax-deductible donations to help enable ASF projects and their communities to continue their vital work.

Giving to the ASF is easy! Every dollar matters, and every donation is appreciated. Any amount you can give helps us meet our financial needs. End-of-year is an especially popular time for philanthropic donations, particularly where tax benefits can be leveraged (be sure to consult with a tax advisor to ensure that you are up-to-date with the latest tax laws).

We are grateful for donations received year-round from individuals and organizations alike —make a one-time or monthly recurring donation at https://donate.apache.org/ using a debit/credit card, ACH electronic transfer, PayPal, or Apple/Google/Microsoft Pay using your mobile phone. We’ll email you a receipt for your tax-deductible contribution.
Those participating in Giving Tuesday (the global day of giving that takes place on the Tuesday after the US Thanksgiving holiday) may wish to give back to the ASF community with a donation via https://donate.apache.org/ on 28 November (Giving Tuesday 2023).
