ASF to Mentor GSoC Contributors in 2023

We are proud to participate in Google Summer of Code as a mentor organization again this year. #GSoC is a global, online program focused on bringing new contributors into open source software development.

This summer, ASF community members and committers have the opportunity to mentor GSoC contributors as they work on a 12+ week programming project related to an Apache Software Foundation project.

If you’re a student who is interested in getting paid to write OSS this summer, consider applying as a contributor to an ASF project!

How it works:

We’ve created a resource to help guide contributors through the process. It’s aptly named, “Students: read this!

The first four steps on our resource page help you get a feel for GSoC. We also included a list of available ASF GSoC 2023 projects for you to consider. Check it out and see if any spark your interest!

If you don’t see any interesting projects from our list of ideas, you can contact one of the Apache Project’s mailing lists and propose a new idea. Please keep in mind that your ideas must be vetted on the project dev list, and we do not respond to new personal project ideas unrelated to any Apache projects.

Apply:

Visit https://summerofcode.withgoogle.com/how-it-works and apply between March 20-April 4.

Don’t forget to bookmark our “Students: read this” page for project info, application tips, and deadlines.
