📆 SAVE THE DATE 📆 Community Over Code Glasgow is taking place October 11-14, 2026 and will feature a co-located, standalone, all-day conference called Lakehouse Day, to be held October 10.

Community Over Code Glasgow continues The ASF event tradition of spotlighting the people, projects, and practices that power open source.

Lakehouse Day will provide a place for the projects in and around the lakehouse ecosystem to network, connect, and drive innovation across the space. With multiple tracks and a full day of programming, the event creates a focused space for deep technical discussion, real-world use cases, and cross-project collaboration.
If you are interested in attending Community Over Code but need financial assistance getting there, be sure to apply with The ASF’s Travel Assistance Committee (TAC). The TAC provides assistance with travel (airfare or train tickets), accommodation during the conference, and conference fees.
**The deadline to apply for assistance is June 3, 2026.**

President’s Letter

March is a time for growth and change each year, as we have our annual members meeting, welcome new members, and elect our board of directors.
First a sincere thank you to our outgoing board members, Rich Bowen, Jim Jagielski, and Kanchana Welagedara for their service (a combined more than 32 years on the ASF board!) and welcome (back) to the Board, Emmanuel Lécharny, Chris Schultz, and Chris Dutz.
In addition (though coincidental, not a regular election cycle), I’m delighted to welcome Daniel Ruggeri, who has been appointed as our new Executive Vice President. He was one of the first people I met when I got involved with The ASF, has served the Foundation in the past both as a member of the board and as our VP of Fundraising, and I’m looking forward to working together more. I’m also grateful to Jeff Jirsa, our outgoing EVP, for his help over the past year.
It’s otherwise been a rather quiet month. Which is not to say with nothing to do–it’s in those quiet spaces that sometimes the most valuable work gets done. The less splashy work of keeping things running along. But I also know that means several parts of the Foundation have really exciting things in the works to share with you soon.
Meanwhile, I hope you got your submissions in for Community Over Code and will be joining us in Glasgow. Travel assistance applications are still open and will open for Community Over Code Asia in Beijing soon.
Sincerely,
Ruth Suehle
