On behalf of the Conference planning team, I am pleased to announce that The Apache Software Foundation (The ASF) will be hosting the next European Community Over Code event October 11-14, 2026 in Glasgow, Scotland, UK. Community Over Code is the annual conference of The ASF, offering a chance for the community to gather in person and showcase content from many of the project communities at The ASF.
For more than 27 years, Community Over Code and its ApacheCon predecessors have reflected the best of our projects and communities, continuing to champion the cause of open source development and community practices. Community Over Code will highlight ASF projects and emerging innovations through hands-on sessions, keynotes, real-world case studies, training sessions, hackathons, and more.
The ASF has, for over a quarter century, been a vital and critical role player in the open source ecosystem, with its 350-plus open source and community-driven projects creating software that not only runs the Internet, but also leads the way to new technological innovations with each passing year. But, as the name suggests, it’s not just the code that makes The ASF special: it’s the people who innovate, create, and explore new technologies, and it’s those people who contribute to the betterment of technology and the public good every day.
In October, Community Over Code will feature four days of sessions, focusing on topics such as Search, Big Data, Internet of Things, Community, Geospatial, Financial Tech, and many others. Each evening will also feature Birds of a Feather (BoF) sessions, unique community-building sessions, and other ways to have free-form discussion and planning around our various projects, as well as form great connections with fellow contributors in the world’s finest open source software foundation.
So, mark your calendars, Community Over Code Europe will be held in Glasgow, Scotland, October 11-14, 2026, in the Hilton Glasgow. Information regarding the call for presentations, sponsorship, registration, and special room rates will be made available soon, but save the dates now!
